Skull & Bones: How To Change Appearance
Feb-14-2025 PSTUbisoft's latest pirate adventure, Skull and Bones, will have you exploring the treacherous oceans, searching for treasure, and making a name for yourself. However, if you're someone who likes to look the part while living the pirate lifestyle, you are bound to look for options to customize your character's appearance.
As the game opens up, and you've created your character, you'll have noticed that your character's outfit doesn't necessarily boast a "pirate" look. Changing your character's appearance in the game is very straightforward, and if you want to learn how, continue reading this guide.
Find Vanity Atelier
The issue with changing your character's appearance in Skull and Bones is that the game doesn't necessarily tell you how to do it. There isn't an option available in the main menu or within the equipment section to modify your character's outfit or appearance.
This can create confusion, especially if you pre-ordered the game and want to use the bonus content you received as a result. Since you're reading this guide, you'll no longer need to worry about customizing your character.
Once you're on land, look around for a shop called Vanity Atelier. These shops have a unique design with garments arranged for display on the outside. Once you're inside the shop, you can speak to the merchant inside to purchase or equip items to customize your character.
Customizing Your Character
When you interact with the vendor at the Vanity Atelier to customize your character, you'll have the option to purchase Skull and Bones items and change your physical appearance. The physical appearance option allows you to customize your character's body type, hair, and skin color.
For clothing, however, you'll need to enter the Purchase & Equip menu where you can view the cheap Skull and Bones items you already have in your possession or any other cosmetic item you're interested in purchasing.
In addition to clothing and accessories, you can also express your character by equipping them with emotes and cool tattoos. Any outfit set you own can be accessed from the collections section within the equipment menu.
Customizing Your Ship
Unlike customizing your character, you don't have to visit a dedicated shop to apply cosmetics to your ship. You can customize your ship's sails, figurehead, and nameplate by entering the Manage Ship menu and then Ship Cosmetics while you're on the ship.
The ship customization menu allows you to choose your preferred colors, patterns, and emblems for your ship's sails. Any unlocked upgrades can also be installed on your ship from the Manage Ship menu.
Speaking of ship upgrades, crafting ship weaponry can be a cumbersome process as it involves finding resources necessary to craft cannons and other powerful weapons at the blacksmith. An easy way to acquire resources in Skull and Bones is by completing contracts.
