Blizzard's Rod Fergusson has confirmed that Diablo 4 players will need to create a new character in order to participate in seasonal content. This news may upset some Diablo IV players who are new to the Diablo series, especially since many have already invested a lot of time in leveling up their characters.

Reaching the maximum level cap in Diablo IV Gold isn't going to be easy. In terms of how badly Diablo 4 max level grinds, technically speaking, level 85 in the game is the midway point needed to get to level 100 XP. It's safe to say that many players won't be interested in this. Starting with a new character not only has to level up again but repeats most of the same stuff they've already gone through.

Unfortunately for those folks, Blizzard's Rod Fergusson confirmed on Twitter that participating in Diablo 4's seasonal content will require players to create a new seasonal character. That means those who want to stick with existing characters will miss out on "seasonal questlines, mechanics, season journeys, and battle passes." While this is something longtime Diablo players have come to expect, it can be confusing and frustrating for those new to the series. With Diablo IV breaking Blizzard's sales records, it's safe to say that it did attract new players to the long-running franchise.

Others might say this doesn't apply to Diablo 4's live service model. After all, other live service games don't require players to start from scratch with new characters to experience seasonal content, so it will be interesting to see if this decision alienates the Diablo 4 community. It's easy to see how some players might stop caring about seasonal content once they realize they have to create a new character.

There has been some concern and controversy over how Blizzard will handle Diablo 4's seasonal content. Many fans are concerned about how Diablo 4 will respond to Prestige with the seasonal reset, as players are under pressure to potentially rediscover the entire map or hunt down all the Lilith Altars again.
