Path Of Exile: Complete Anoint Oil
Nov-01-2024 PSTFrom the variety of gems, POE currency, and special PoE items, it can be a lot to keep track of, so it's only natural to glance over one aspect of the game. One type of item that you may encounter is oils, which are technically a type of POE currency. So, what do these little vials of oil do?
In this guide, we are going to take a look at every oil that is used for anointment in Path of Exile. This will also cover what each oil does, as well as how to actually use the oils once you get them for the first time.
Every Anoint Oil In Path Of Exile
There is a total of 16 oils that you can obtain, which have been listed below along with what level they drop at.
Where To Find Anoint Oils
Oils drop from Blight encounters. This is essentially a mini-event that involves tower defense mechanics. Appearing with Cassia nearby (who randomly appears on maps), you will be able to begin the event when you interact with the Fungal Growth.
Overall, your goal is to protect the pump by defeating enemies (either with your own skills or with the help of the towers that appear). As a reward for completing the event, you may be rewarded with some oils.
To get higher-tier oils, you will need to sell three from the previous tier. This applies from Clear Oil to Golden Oil. For example, if you head to a vendor and sell three Clear Oil, you will get one Sepia Oil.
What To Do With Oils
Now that you have some oils in hand, what do you do with them? Your first step is to speak to Cassia. Here, you can ask for an explanation of 'Anointing Oils'. During this conversation, she'll tell you that if you bring her oils, she can anoint amulets and rings.
So, from her interaction menu, now head over to the 'Anoint Items' section on the right side. This pulls up the anointing menu, allowing you to place a ring or amulet. Once placed, oil slots will appear below it. These can be filled with an assortment of oils in order to add enchantments to the item that you put in.
Amulet And Ring Anointments
Anointed Amulets
By combining oils on an amulet, you will unlock a passive. If you combine any three oils with no Prismatic Oil, you will unlock one medium-size passive skill that already exists on the skill tree.
Overall, there are a lot of these; so many, in fact, that it's best to just use the oils that you have to see which options are possible. You'll be able to see the anointment result under the oil slots when talking to Cassia before locking into the result.
When you add a Prismatic OIl to the mix, you will unlock a unique type of passive. This passive is not found anywhere on the skill tree, making it anoint-only. Below, you can check out all amulet anointments that use Prismatic Oil.
Anointed Rings
Rings can be anointed, and you will only need two oils. The enchantments that can be anointed onto rings function as tower buffs. For example, combining two Clear Oils on a ring will provide an enchantment that makes your Chilling Towers deal 25 percent more damage.
